Sunshine Week 1 - Jack and the Beanstalk

Our topics this term are traditional tales and minibeasts.

This week Jack and the Beanstalk has been our topic  and our book club book. The children have enjoyed writing messages to Jack on green leaves and attaching them to the beanstalk that is 'growing' in our classroom.

Lots of the children have told me that their beanstalks are growing very tall at home - well done for keeping them going.

In Forest School we looked to see if Spring is here yet or not. We found many different flowers growing and blossom on our new trees in the big playground. We also had a sneak peek at the new pond.

In our Maths this week we have been counting things that we can't see like claps and jumps. We have also been learning about strategies we can use to help us count large amounts of objects. On Friday we had a go at counting 20 items. We did really well.

We have been very excited about getting back out in the playground and onto the grass, it was so muddy last term that we couldn't use it. The children have been using big cardboard boxes to build the Giant's castle.
