Governing Body

Governors

Welcome to the Governors’ section of the website where you can find out more about the work that we do and who we are.

Our main role is to support the Headteacher and staff. We help them to set and reach targets and to strive for excellence across the whole spectrum of school life. The key documents used for this is the School Development Plan (SDP) and School Self Evaluation Form (SEF).

Our legal duties include:-

  • setting strategic direction, policies and objectives
  • approving the school budget
  • reviewing progress against the school's budget and objectives
  • appointing, challenging and supporting the Headteacher

The Governing Body meets 7 times during the academic year. Each governing body meeting has a theme and across the year there is a schedule of work to ensure that all areas are covered.

There is a Finance sub committee that meets to review our budget. At times other committees are formed for specific tasks eg Suspensions or Complaints.

Governors are also linked to various areas of school life such as Safeguarding; RE; Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND);Pupil Premium

There is a governor for each phase of the school - Early Years, Key Stage 1, Lower Key Stage 2 and Upper Key Stage 2.

Governors regularly visit the school and the times of our meetings allow these visits to happen each term.

In the summer the Governing Body meet for a day in school and use this opportunity to meet with Parents, Pupils and Staff.

The Governing Body is made up of:

Foundation Governors (appointed by the Diocese of Westminster)

Parent Governors (voted for by parents/carers)

Staff Governor (voted for by members of staff)

Local Authority Governor (appointed by the Local Authority)

Associate governors (appointed by the Governing Body)

We are committed to providing an excellent environment for all pupils to enjoy during their time at our school and to ensure that all pupils achieve their full potential.

If you wish to know more, or are interested in becoming a governor, please contact us via the School Office.
