Happy New Year Everyone!
We have had a lovely first week back. The children and teachers have been busy making their New Year Resolutions. I wonder how long we can stick to them...
New Year Resolutions
We have been learning all about the feast of the Epiphany. Epiphany comes from the verb to appear. The feast of Epiphany is celebrating the Baby Jesus being seen or appearing, to the visitors who had travelled to see him. We wrote Newspaper reports to tell the world what happened!
Towers, Tunnels and Turrets
We are about to begin our new topic Towers, Tunnels and turrets...
Meet Rapunzel who lives in a tall, tall tower. We will build a brand new one... Whose will be the tallest?
In maths, we have been busy finding the nearest multiple of ten and adding!
Adoremus – ‘Let us adore him.'
Random Acts of Kindness
The year 2 children have really enjoyed our ‘Random Acts of Kindness’ activities.
They have given some feedback:
HT – I really enjoyed helping my mum bake cakes!
WC – We should do them every year as it’s a good way to get ready for Christmas!
OC – I like doing them because God wants us to be kind.
GM – I liked the acts of kindness because when you do acts of kindness for other people they will do it to the next person and the next and the next, it keeps on spreading
IC – The acts of kindness help us to be kind.
Advent Acts of Kindness
Christmas Jumper Day.
The children made lovely reindeer hats and they were so excited to have their Christmas dinner!
They also enjoyed a game of musical statues.
Christmas Jumper Day!
This Christmas we wrote and posted letters to Santa.
We created a 'Host of Angels' display for the school hall using paper doilies.
We have been very busy making Christmas cards, an Advent wreath, tree decorations, hats for our Christmas dinner, reindeer calendars, pictures of the Grinch and Christmas biscuits!
We worked very hard on our production, 'Stable by Starlight'. We performed it in front of the whole school and our families. We really enjoyed performing it and we hope you enjoyed the show!
Autumn Term 2
This half term our topic was 'Muck, Mess and Mixtures'.
We started off by looking at the artist Piet Modrian and some of his work, including the piece 'Trafalgar Square'. We created our own version of this piece.
We had fun colour mixing and colour shading.
We enjoyed using marbling techniques to create multi coloured prints.
On Tuesday 11th December we had Toxic Tom from 'Mad Science' come in and tell us all about the States of Matter. We investigated what happened when you mixed baking soda and vinegar. We also created our own slime! We really enjoyed this workshop!
