Forest School

Friday, 4th March

Today, we worked with a partner.  One child was blindfolded and the other child had to give directions to their partner so that they could walk from the Log Circle to the boundary of Forest School.   Lots of concentration and good listening by the child who was blindfolded and then lots of clear instructions from the child who was guiding.  All of the children had a turn at being a guide.

Friday, 12th November 2021 - Linking to our Literacy story 'Stanley's Stick' we made our own Stick Man. We learned how to tie two sticks together using elastic bands and wrapped wool around the sticks as clothing for the Stick Man.

Friday, 1st October - We took turns to explore the 'Mud Kitchen' during Forest School today. We found lots of different natural objects for our Forest School recipes. We got busy collecting our ingredients to go into our pans and found sticks to stir the ingredients together. We created a range of yummy dishes, including chocolate cup cakes, soup, spaghetti with tomato sauce, vanilla and strawberry cake and a birthday cake.

Friday 24th September - Today, we learned how to make an 'overhand' knot. Here are some photographs of us busy making our overhand knots on sticks. We then tied a smaller stick to the other end of our string and used this as a needle to thread on different leaves which we had collected.

Friday, 10th September 2021 - Forest School.  This was our first Forest School lesson in Year 1.  We began our lesson by sitting together in the Log Circle and we talked about our 'Forest School Rules' and learning to be Super Forest Rangers.  Our activity today was to make a Forest Ranger Bracelet.  We worked with a partner to find pieces of wool for making our bracelets.  With our partner, we had to twist the wool carefully together to form our 'Forest Ranger' Bracelet.  This activity developed good team building skills.
