Phonics homework has now been added to Google Classroom and the website. Please practise the new sounds and tricky words every day. We will still assess every child each week, and when they are secure with the sounds and tricky words, they will be able to move onto that unit's reading books.
The brown envelop with sounds and tricky words to take home will continue for those children who have some gaps with their phonics. Please make sure you are practising these sounds and tricky words everyday as well.
Many thanks
We have now finished Phase 5 unit 14 Phonics. This includes sounds 'ay', 'a_e', 'eigh', 'ey' and 'ei' (all making the 'ai' sound) and tricky words 'Mr' 'Mrs' and 'Ms'.
Please practise these sounds and tricky words this week with your child.
This is the first split digraph we have taught- a_e, where the letter for the other sounds goes in the middle of the digraph for long vowel sound (e.g make, cake, bake, lake. ape, cape, tape, game, plane, brave). As this is a new concept your child might find this more difficult than other sounds so please practise this sound as much as possible with your child, both reading and writing it.
Please use the flashcards attached below, if you cannot print them out you can write the words out on some spare paper. As well as reading the words please encourage your child to add the sound buttons for each word (this can't be done on tricky words).
We have now finished Phase 5 unit 13 Phonics. This includes sounds 'wh' and 'ph' and tricky words 'oh' 'their' and 'people'.
Please practise these sounds and tricky words this week with your child.
Please use the flashcards attached below, if you cannot print them out you can write the words out on some spare paper. As well as reading the words please encourage your child to add the sound buttons for each word (this can't be done on tricky words).
