Reading

 

Encouraging a love for Reading

 

Our vision is to cultivate a lifelong love of reading amongst the pupils. We intend that our pupils will be both independent and reflective readers, who can read fluently and for meaning. 

 

 

  • Children are encouraged to read a wide variety of genres;
  • Reading corners in classrooms give pupils access to fiction, non-fiction and poetry
  • Reading is an integral part in all areas of the curriculum
  • Weekly read aloud class story sessions across the school
  • Age appropriate bank of ‘Recommended Reads’ provided in school
  • Staff enjoy reading and share their love for reading with the pupils
