Tuesday 18th January Forest School

Making Fire at Forest School

It was a very cold, icy morning. We wrapped up warm and ventured out into the forest. We have been learning about firefighters and fire safety so we thought we could safely have a fire in the forest.

The children decided on their own rules;

  • You must use the door to the log circle and wait until the adult says you can go in.
  • You must stay sat on your log unless an adult says you can move.
  • We must take a bucket of water with us incase we need to put the fire out.
  • When we had put the fire out at the end the children decided it was important that we let all the other teachers know we had had a fire because the ashes would still be hot.

The children were very sensible and we managed to make a little fire - it was very hard to find dry sticks to add to the fire so it never got very big.

Now that we know how sensible the children can be we have promised that next time we make a fire we will do marshmallows or hot chocolate.
