Tuesday 1st March Shrove Tuesday

Shrove Tuesday / Fat Tuesday / Mardi Grais

We have had lots of fun learning about Mardi Grais and carnivals. The children have learnt a little about why we are celebrating today and the meaning of the three colours that we dressed up in:-

purple for justice

green means faith

gold represents power.

The children were very excited to make and eat pancakes. We also made masks and shakers for the Mardi Grais parade at the end of the day. Forest school was a little wet and muddy but we used our own ingredients to make a wide range of flavoured pancakes.

If you look through the photographs you may notice that Mrs Harvey-Smith had the biggest pancake. I did wait until the very end and I had to use up all the left over batter. Thank you Mariana for taking the photograph.

What a lovely, busy, fun day which ended with each child going home with a delicious doughnut.
