Hello Year 3,

We hope you had a lovely half term break and are ready to get going on your learning again!

We know that a few more children will be joining us at school from today but remember, we will be doing the same work that you are doing at home.

Continue to check MyMaths, Spellzone and Bug Club for work and remember to update your blogs. We love to hear from you!

If you have any questions or any trouble logging in, please send us an email and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

We hope you have a lovely week!

We are using White Rose Maths  - Summer Term Week 4.

All the resources you need are below.

Please take the time to watch the videos, they explain the learning very well and will help you to remember it.

Lesson 1 - Multiply and divide by 4 and 8

Lesson 2 - Multiply 2 digit by 1 digit number

Lesson 3 - Divide a 2 digit number by a 1 digit number

Lesson 4 - Multiplication and division problem solving (Sheet: Scaling)

English:

Look at the resource below.

It is several weeks worth of work, so remember you are only doing week 1 this week!

It is a good idea to read page 1 and 2 of the booklet before you start, so you know a bit more about what you will need to do.

This week we are focusing on chapter 1 of the book ‘Mr Majeika’, which you can find on page 13 of the booklet.

This week you will :

  • read the first chapter
  • write a diary entry using the past tense
  • answer some grammar questions
  • practise some spelling words

Reading

In Guided Reading this week we will be looking at Chapter 1 of Escape from Black Mountain. This has been allocated to you on Bug Club.

Please find daily worksheets below to go with the chapter.

Science

This half term our topic is 'Plants'.

This week we are looking at the different parts of a plant and how plants can be food for humans and other animals.

Activity:

Draw a plant of your choice (eg – a sunflower) and label it, explaining the function of the different parts of a plant.

Handwriting

Below are some sheets to help practice your handwriting.

Copy it out into your workbook or a lined page.

Plants- Geography

WALT- describe and understand what  climate zones/biomes are.

Activity 1

You need to use the 'World Biomes' Powerpoint to find the definition of what Biome is and understand the different types. You then have an activity sheet 'World Biomes' of labelling the different biomes.

Activity 2

Read through the 'World Biomes and Climate Zones' Powerpoint, this will go over the work from activity one but also introduce what Climate Zones are. This will help you understand and link the Biomes to the Climate Zones. Complete the activity sheet whilst you are going through the Powerpoint.

The last part of this activity is to write a postcard/letter/email (you may use the activity sheet as guidance or write in your home learning book or actually email us!) based on you visiting one of the Biomes/Climate Zones! So you need to research a little bit of information about one of them and tell us all about it.

Art- Plants

WALT- understand the natural line and shape found within plants!

Shadow painting/drawing. Go outside, if you can, to find some plants in your garden or on a daily walk (where safe to do so). Place paper on the ground and trace the shadow with a pencil.

Think about the types of lines and shapes you are drawing- are they straight? curved? long? Think about how different plants in nature look in comparison to things which are man-made.

Once you have traced your shadow of a plant, you can choose to paint, colour, shade in your work- the choice is yours! You can explore using different materials, colours and textures.
