Morning Year 5!
Another week of home learning!
Hope you had a good rest over the weekend and that you are ready and motivated to learn!
Here is this week's list of work to be completed at home (or in school!) and if there are any problems, please contact your class teacher on the blog or via the email address:
Have a good week!
Mrs Ives & Miss Hughes
This term, we will be using White Rose maths work.
Here is the link to watch a video:
and we will be working on week 2 work, starting with Rounding decimals. There is an activity per day so you will find 5 different pieces of work - one per day. There will be no Mymaths set this week. You have to complete these tasks.
Make sure you watch the little video before attempting the work!
N.B. We aren't doing the Summer Term work as we will be recapping the two weeks previous when typical school stopped. Call it revision!
Monday: Rounding decimals
Tuesday: Order and compare decimals
Wednesday: Understand percentages.
Thursday: Percentages as fractions and decimals.
Friday: Equivalent fractions, decimals and percentages.
The answers are there but we don't want you to be peeking until you have completed all the work and you have a parent/carer/older sibling with you, ready to go through the answers with you.
We would like you to complete the work for WEEK 2 from the document below. Complete the work for this in your Home Learning book.
The 'Pog' story is near the end of the whole document so you will have to scroll down a few pages before you see it.
If you come into school, make sure you bring your work in to show the teacher in charge of Year 5.
We have set a new task for you on Spellzone. Please note that these tasks are not optional and Mrs Waugh checks who is logging on ALL of the online resources, inc. MyMaths, Bug Club, etc.
Find below a guided reading task- The Castle Mystery.
You must also go onto Bug Club and continue reading from there. If you have been reallocated certain books, it is because you had some low marks from certain types of questions. Please attempt again.
This week we are looking at the importance of PRAYER.
We will be looking at 4 types of Prayer:
1. Prayer of Thanksgiving
2. Prayer of Petition (or asking)
3. Prayer of Sorrow
4. Prayer of Praise.
We would like you to: MAKE YOUR OWN PRAYER BOOK.
Begin with an introduction on the best ways to pray. For example- try to be still, be relaxed and attentive.
Include the prayers you will want to say, for example, well-known prayers, old and new and some of your own.
You may want to put in some quotations from the scripture which you find helpful.Use your ICT skills to design it!
There is the competition for you to enter on the main Home Learning page. We have only received 2 entries. You can win £10,000 for your school!
Continuing from your 'Recycled Food' experiment, we would like you to plan and make a healthy meal this week. From scratch if you can.
You have to:
1. Plan your meal. It can be a starter, main or dessert.
2. Write down the ingredients needed (please do not buy anything. See if you can use ingredients from your cupboards)
3. Explain how you got rid of the recycles/food waste. Use last week's ideas.
4. Write down instructions for your meal.
5. Make your meal with parent permission/ supervision if you can.
6. Take photos of your meal.
7. Enjoy your meal!
