W/C 6th July 2020

This is the last full week of Home Learning activities. Thank you so much to all of you who have kept in contact by sending through photographs of the lovely activities going on at home, whether you followed our plans or made up some of your own. It has been great to see the children smiling.

I think it is fair to say that you all deserve a huge amount of praise for taking on the role of Teacher at home and guiding your children through the last 4 months. It can't have been easy. Both Mrs Claridge and I would like to say Thank you.

In school this would have been the week when children would have experienced what it was like in their new classes and we would also have started to talk to them about the changes ahead and moving on in the school. It is therefore very important that you now chat at home about what is going to happen in September and, when the class lists go out, which class they will be going in to. You will find two lovely videos on the school website which will introduce the Reception Teachers and the classrooms, Sunshine and Rainbow. Please take some time to show your child and watch it together.

If your child is doing another year in Nursery or is changing to the 30 hour class then you can also show them the videos of Snowflakes B and C, where you will find a friendly welcome from myself and Mrs Claridge.

Here are a few books which might help to explain what it is like to go to 'Big School'.

Alfie and the Big Boys by Shirley Hughes

Harry and the Dinosaurs go to School by Ian Wybrow and Adrian Reynolds

Charlie and Lola; I am too absolutely small to go to school by Lauren Child
