WEEK 2

Look at the resource below.

Remember you are only doing week 2 this week!

This week we are again focusing on chapter 1 of the book ‘Mr Majeika’, which you can find on page 13 of the booklet.

This week you will :

  • answer questions using information from the text
  • write your own interesting version of the chapter
  • answer some grammar questions
  • practise some spelling words and use some in your own sentence

Reading

In Guided Reading this week we will be looking at Chapter 2 of Escape from Black Mountain. This has been allocated to you on Bug Club.

Please find daily worksheets below to go with the chapter.

Science

WALT: Set up an investigation to find out what plants need to grow well.

Geography- Plants

WALT- describe and understand how climate zones and biomes affect plant adaptations.

Activity 1-

Now you know about the different biomes and climates, this week you will be looking at how plants have adapted from some of the biomes. You need to research one of the plant adaptations to research (activity sheet to use in attached underneath). There is some information you can use underneath to help with this research.

Activity 2-

Now you understand more about the biomes and climates and how they have influenced the adaptions of different plants. You need to now create your own plant. Think about;

  • the climate and biome that it is in
  • the adaptations of the plants already in that biome/climate that you have researched
  • think about anything else that may benefit the plant for surving better in that climate/biome.

Art

This weeks art you need to collect things from nature: leaves, sticks, stones, feathers, flowers, etc. Either from your garden or from your daily walk outside. You then need to get a plain background or design a background to link to your picture. You can then create a pictures of; a landscape, a person, an animal, anything! The ideas below are examples of the sort of thing you can do..
