W/C 8th June 2020

Good morning, year 5!

We hope you are well and still continuing with the home learning. The children attending school are all well and send their regards to you all. We all look forward to seeing you back in school once more!

This week, we are still revisiting fractions. Make sure you watch the video for each day as they are very useful and have a go at the examples when the chap tells you to pause the video. angel

Go through the answers with a parent or sibling and correct any mistakes.

Monday: add and subtract fractions

Tuesday: add fractions

Wednesday: add mixed numbers

Thursday: subtract mixed numbers

Friday: challenge day! TBC

English:

We are on week 7 of the English booklet. Make sure you complete ALL tasks within this section. The spelling is particularly important and the idea is to choose two words a day - practise spelling them over and over (use the 'Look, Say, Cover, Write, Check' method) and then write each word in context within a sentence.

We also put a task up on Spellzone every week and we have noticed that some of you have not been online for a while now. This is your chance to catch up before we get in touch to find out why you are not accessing the work.

Bug Club has been checked and again, some of you are not accessing the books or answering all the questions within the book. If you are having trouble finding the questions then let us know.

Well done to all those children who are accessing these pieces of work every week.

Guided Reading:

This week's Pobble task is called 'Lost'. Try one section a day but make sure you read the task carefully. These are skills that we have learnt over the last year so you shouldn't have too much trouble accessing them.

Guided Reading

Religion:

This week's task is based on the 'Apostles Creed', which is a declaration of our beliefs said aloud during the mass.

Answer the questions carefully underneath each section.

Science:

This week, we are looking at how we can 'clean' dirty water. Follow the steps on the method sheet below. Take photos of each step for evidence.

Topic - History:

This week, we would like you to research the country of Egypt and produce either a powerpoint or a non-chronological report based on these subheadings:

Continents; whereabouts is Egypt in the world;

culture;

climate;

exports;

fun facts;

religion;

language;

famous landmarks;

landscape.

Use Google to help you find this information out. Here is a useful website if you need a head start:

If you are having trouble with your computer then please speak to the School Office and see if you can lend a school laptop.
