WALT: Recognise and describe crosses from the Middle East- the Palm Cross.

 

Please read the Powerpoint below. 

Activity 1:

Retell what you have learned about the Palm Cross, explaining why this cross is important to Christians around the world.

Activity 2: 

Create your own palm cross.

(Instead of a palm, you can use strips from the long side of an A4 sheet, each strip measuring about 2cm wide.)

Watch the next part of the Tin Forest (YouTube link below), stopping at ‘tin tree’ (2:02). Look at the image.

 

Pause and imagine that you are the old man in this moment of the story.

Consider how he feels now that a live bird has appeared in his tin forest.

 

Can you predict what may happen next in the story?

 

Following this, watch the next part of the story, stopping at ‘emptiness’ (2:14).

Imagine that you are the old man; how does he feel now? How do his current emotions contrast with the feelings he had when the bird arrived in the forest?

 

Activity:

In the worksheet below, record how the old man feels when he sees the bird in his tin forest in contrast to how he feels after the bird had left.

 

Write feelings/adjectives around the two pictures and then put them into paragraphs.
