Week 8 - 30.10.23
Re - 3rd November 2023 - Diwali - We learned about this festival and what people do as they prepare to celebrate this festival. We made 'diva lamps' from clay and decorated these with coloured sequins. We listened to the story of Rama and Sita and how this story is remembered during Diwali.
Maths - comparing items by height and length and using comparative language to describe which items are taller, shorter, longer, shorter.
Maths - comparing objects by weight, predicting which might be heavier or lighter.
English - Puffin Peter - We thought about what the different characters would say in the story and then we wrote sentences in the first person, using speech bubbles.
PE - Winter Dance - In our first lesson, we listened to the beat of the music and tried to move in time to it. We made 'icicle' shapes with our bodies. We joined our movements together in a sequence, finishing off by melting to the floor.
HISTORY - We learned about what a 'Decade' is and how many years make a decade. As a whole class, we ordered decades on a timeline, starting at 1950 through to 2020. We then placed pictures of memorable events into the decade in which they took place. We learned that our timeline covered over 70 years.
