Week 9 - 06.11.23
RE - The theme this week was Remembrance and we wrote about what a Poppy symbolises and why we wear a Poppy. We wrote our own prayer to ask God to bring peace into the world everywhere and to guide soldiers. We made individual poppies for the whole school displays, both in the Hall and for outside.
English - Puffin Peter - This week, we wrote individual story maps about Puffin Peter and, then, we retold the story to our peers. We discussed the meaning of some of the key words in the story; 'drifted', 'overjoyed'.
Maths - This week, we have been looking at comparing quantities and we have practised using the language of more than, less than, equal to. We have learned how we can write down this language using symbols.
PE - We continued adding movements to the Winter Dance. Today, we added actions of 'Polar Explorers' trekking through the cold environment. We listened to the music and moved in time.
Science - The new topic 'Human Senses' was introduced. As a whole class, we worked together to label around the outline of body.
Computers - E-Safety - This week, our learning was about knowing that we need to use safe search engines when we are looking for images or information on the Internet. We know who we must speak to if we find something which we think is not right.
Design and Technology/Forest School - The DT topic for this half term was introduced 'Shade and Shelter'. We looked at many examples of shelters and talked about the purpose of shelters and the different materials from which they can be made. In Forest School, we looked for possible animal shelters and the natural materials from which they are made.
