A note to the children

To all the children from 1J and 1H

We want you to know that we miss seeing you every day and school is a little strange without you.

We hope that you are enjoying time with your home teachers (mum and dad) and that you are being helpful, kind and caring, as well as having lots of fun.

We would love to hear from you, to know how you are getting on and for you to share some of the exciting things you have been doing. Please email us (with help from mum, dad or an older sibling) and send us some photos. We are hoping to be able to ring you sometime this week using FaceTime or calling, so please remind your parents to check their mobile phones.

A note to the parents and carers

Dear Parents and Carers,

We thank you for your understanding and support during this time. We understand you might be feeling worried about balancing working from home and continuing your child’s learning.

Your family’s wellbeing is very important at this time. Try and establish a routine. Ensure you are including quiet times in your day, prayer and exercise. Try not to over rely on technology and television. Find the positives. You might find that life doesn’t have to be quite so fast paced.

Learning isn’t always numbers and letters; this is a key time to teach your child the importance of community, caring, kindness and involve then in life skills that come with living in a household. Involve the whole family in cooking and cleaning activities. If you have a garden encourage the children to spend as much time as possible in it. Allocate family time to play a board game together, or read.

To help assist you with the academic learning, we will be updating the Year 1’s Home Learning page weekly, with a key learning objective and some tasks.

We hope to be in contact with the children, we will use the key parent contact information from school and may FaceTime or call to chat to your child.

Please feel free to contact us via our email addresses:

Many thanks,

Mrs Hulley and Mrs James

P.S.  Each morning (in 1H) we look at the date and find it on the calendar to find out what we are going to 'be' that day!  We have lovely discussions each morning about how we can show our 'word' to our friends, school community and family that day - they come up with some really thoughtful ideas.  The idea came from the website and this is April's Affirmation calendar.
