Week 11 - Mary was going to have a baby

Mary was going to have a baby. His name will be Jesus. Mary’s Baby is based on Luke 1:26-31,38.        

This week we heard the start of The Christmas Story. We learnt that an Angel called Gabriel appeared to Mary to tell her she was going to have a baby and that his name will be Jesus. We thought about how Mary felt when she saw Angel Gabriel for the first time and how we might have felt in that moment. Also how Mary felt to be chosen by God for something so special - how do we feel when we're chosen for something?

The children role played being Mary and her husband Joseph and Angel Gabriel visiting Mary. They created their own Angel Gabriel at the creative table and used figures to recall the start of the story. 

We did a collective worship together in a circle and spoke about how Mary said yes to God's plan and we can say yes too. We passed round a candle and said our names to et God know we were saying yes to his plan.
