Rainbow - Weeks 1 and 2 - Goldilocks and the Three Bears
Welcome back for the Summer Term. We are looking forward to some warmer weather.
Our topics for this half term are Traditional Tales and Minibeasts.
Week 1
We start with the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. We will be making chairs for baby bear to replace the broken one and taking part in a Goldilocks and the Three Bears quiz.
This week we will be revisiting qu, ch, sh and th in our phonics and will be trying to use these diagraph sounds in our writing.
Maths focuses on counting, ordinality and cardinality and we will be thinking about what we have already learned about counting and how we can use that to help us count larger quantities.
In Religious Education we will focus on solidarity as part of our Catholic Social Teaching and also the fact that Jesus rose from the dead.
Forest School will be based around minibeasts, we will be going on a hunt and looking carefully at the creatures that we find. We will also be talking about how important it is that we look after and protect God's creatures.
Week 2
Goldilocks and the Three Bears becomes our Drawing Club book for this week. We are developing our sentence writing and attempting to use digraph sounds in our words.
In Religious Education we are beginning to think about the church and our local parish churches. We will learn that the church is not just a building but a community of people who love God and one another.
In phonics we will recap ng, ai, ee and igh. We will be writing words and sentences with these sounds in them.
Our Maths focus is subitising - knowing how many without counting. We will be using 10 frames to help us develop our subitising skills.
We also hope to make and try porridge this week, we will see if we think it is too hot, too lumpy or just right!
