Weeks 7 and 8 - At the Beach

During weeks 7 and 8 we will be thinking about being at the beach and beach holidays.

Week 7

Our Drawing Club book is Pirate Pete. We will have  fun drawing pirates, pirate boats and imagining the funny things that could be in the treasure chest when they open it. It is story where the children get to fill in the missing parts, giving them the opportunity to make it very sensible, very funny or very silly.

In maths we have been working on counting beyond 20.

In Forest School (Wednesday) the children will be collecting ten. They will collect ten of the same item and then check it on the ten frame to see if they have the correct amount or have collected more or fewer than ten.

In Religious Education we will be learning that everyone is invited to be a friend of Jesus. We will make friendship bracelets to show that we are friends of Jesus. If you pop onto the Sunshine Religious Education page you will find the poem that the children wrote with the help of Miss Harvey-Smith - If Jesus came to visit me.

 Week 8

Our drawing club book is The Night Pirates - We are becoming much more confident at writing our sentences and most the children are remembering to use capital letters, finger spaces and full stops.

In Maths we will be recapping doubles and odds and evens.

In Forest School we will attempt some weaving.

In Religious Education we will be thinking about St Peter and his story as we lead up to the Feast of St Peter and St Paul.

As part of our topic, On the Beach, we will be talking about the places where we have been to the beach and the things that we did / saw at the beach. We are looking forward to the children telling us about the beach photographs that you have been sending in.
