Week 6 - The Rainbow Fish

The Week Ahead

Our topic book this week is The Rainbow Fish, which will help us explore themes of friendship, kindness, and sharing.

In phonics, we’ll be learning the sounds ‘g’ and ‘o', while in Drawing Club, our story will be Chicken Licken. The children will be encouraged to write words using their new sounds, along with the ones we’ve already learnt – so we hope you’ve been practicing at home!

In maths, we’ll be practicing subitising arrangements of 2 and 3, as well as auditory subitising up to 3. We’ll also be exploring positional language, using fun games and practical activities.

This week we’ll be celebrating the Feast of Saint Philip Howard. The children will learn about his story, his loyalty, and what it means to be a loyal friend. In RE, we’ll also be thinking about the role God gave us to care for the animals and plants he created.

Our week will end with a Mass on Friday at 9:15am to celebrate Saint Philip Howard’s feast – parents are invited to join us.

It was lovely to see so many parents at Stay and Read last week, and we hope to see you all again this week for Stay and Puzzle on Thursday, 16th at 2:50pm.

Sunshine Autumn Week 6 The Rainbow Fish

 How The Week Went

The children behaved excellently in Mass on Friday. I was very proud of them.

We also had a lovely time on Thursday afternoon when the parents and carers came for our stay and puzzle.

Unfortunately we could not use the forest as we have a lot of sleepy wasps hanging around. Hopefully as the weather gets colder they will no longer be a problem.

We had lots of fun with craft activities based around autumn leaves - there were some fabulous leaf monsters and some children were very good at leaf rubbing.
